About
Vincent Fontano
With his powerful, poetic pen and full, deep voice, Vincent Fontano sweeps the house away with his prose.
In the third installment of a cycle that began with Après le Feu and Loin des Hommes (a revelation at one of the last editions of the Avignon Festival), the Reunionese author and director tells the story of a young woman who visits her father in a strange forest. What is she doing there? Why come back after so many years? The encounter with this new-found father is stormy. The night wears on, when a white man appears, none other than the young woman's adoptive father. At the center of this conflict of loyalties, she will have to choose, deep in the forest, which of her fathers she will be able to save.
A reflection on how the colonial past occupies bodies and hearts when it comes to building common futures beyond political rhetoric.
