About
La Cordonnerie transposes the famous children's tale to the suburbs of Paris, on the eve of the fall of the Berlin Wall. We follow the day-to-day life of Elisabeth, the "stepmother" - an educator in spite of herself - and her beautiful daughter Blanche, a gothic teenager with a bad skin condition. This pretty world lives together in the kingdom?s tallest tower block, a council estate on the edge of a wood. Like an echo of the conflicting relationship between these two heroines, anger rumbles on both sides of the Berlin Wall in the summer of 1989.
This retelling of Snow White takes up the key elements of the original tale, and humorously recreates the plot against the backdrop of the Cold War. With their theatrical blend of images, sound effects and live music, the renowned compagnie de la Cordonnerie deals with the unspoken issues of blended families, yet never ceases to enchant reality.
