About
David Bobée, JoeyStarr
Based on the poetic work Black-Label, written in 1956 by Léon-Gontran Damas, actor and rapper JoeyStarr and stage director David Bobée take on some of the greatest works of anti-racist poetry, accompanied by jazz musician and singer Sélène Saint-Aimé and singer and dancer Nicolas Moumbounou. Alongside them, deaf artist Jules Turlet, chansigneur, will translate into sign language this journey through literature, history and the world via the African diasporas, from Afrodescendant writings to today?s "Black Live Matters". JoeyStarr, the multi-faceted artistic chameleon and fascinating media object, needs no introduction. With director David Bobée - director of the Théâtre du Nord, who staged Dom Juan last year - they take on the greatest writings of anti-racist poetry in a hard-hitting play, a poetic and literary fresco.
