Lille National Orchestra | Lille Opera Choir (live from Lille Opera)

This year, the Opéra de Lille and the Maison de la Culture d?Amiens invite you to the retransmission of Faust, Gounod?s legendary opera, directed by Denis Podalydès, with costumes by Christian Lacroix. The orchestra will be conducted by Louis Langré, former musical director of the Orchestre de Picardie.

"I want a treasure that contains them all! I want youth! Frustrated by his futile quest for knowledge, the old scholar Faust sells his soul to the devil in exchange for eternal youth and the beautiful Marguerite? but at what price?
Few operas have had such an enviable fate as Gounod?s Faust: a flamboyant success from its premiere, an international career in its wake, followed by an uninterrupted reign on the stages, which to this day makes it the most performed French opera in the world, just behind Carmen.
