A novel by Cocteau, a film by Melville, an opera by Philip Glass, this transgressive story of adolescent love never ceases to fascinate. The great artist Phia Ménard creates a magnetic transposition of this story in a nursing home, where aging, yet ardent bodies are drawn into a spectacular set design in perpetual motion, highlighting the bewildering circulation of desire.
The continuous repetitive music, conducted by Emmanuel Olivier and performed by four singers and three pianists on stage, also places the spectator in a trance-like state, and celebrates the power of the imagination over the human being, who, right up to his last hour, remains amazed, in love and jealous!
A winning bet for Phia Ménard, who bewitches the audience by bringing the work up to date. The narrator is irresistible, as are the scenic images she creates.
