About
Henri Texier
Thirty years after releasing An Indian?s Week, the album that marked his commitment to the Amerindian cause and influenced a whole generation of jazzmen, legendary double bassist Henri Texier once again summons history to deliver a universal jazz full of humanity.
With over twenty albums to his credit, he is a giant of jazz past and present. An Indian?s Life, his latest opus, confirms his absolute mastery of melodic writing and tempo, while continuing to offer his fellow musicians free rein for virtuoso, passionate improvisations. The music is complemented by the vocals of Himiko Paganotti, who conjures up the voices of Native Americans and the moving lyrics of the Fats Waller standard Black and Blue. Henri Texier, our Label Bleu flagship artist, continues to make his music a space for dialogue between traditions and generations.
