The exhibition will introduce visitors to the work of artist Tereza Lochmann (b. 1990, Prague; lives and works in Paris), which revolves around the traditional technique of wood engraving, which she transforms into a contemporary, experimental and lively medium. Displayed in the permanent collections, her works combining drawing, engraving and sculpture will provide a new perspective on Lady Godiva?s iconography.
A second cycle of works, specially created for the exhibition, will focus on the theme of rag trees, in particular the one at Sénarpont in the Somme region, where Tereza Lochmann spent a month in residence. The survival of popular beliefs in Picardy inspired the artist, whose creations will be extended by the exceptional restoration of a large-format 19th-century painting by Henri Gambart, also depicting a votive tree
also depicting a votive tree, preserved on a scroll since the First World War.
The exhibition will conclude with a presentation of female figures linked to ancestral or contemporary legends, renewing the traditional canons of representation.
