About
At the end of a long avenue of lime trees is the amazing farm of the Château de Breilly. Secular trees and horses give this farm a bucolic charm.
This is where Pierre Etienne, a beekeeper, settled to produce the honey of the three castles!
This young beekeeper fervently explains to us that the place is ideal for bees: "The proximity of the Somme valley, plain areas, woods offer a great diversity of trees and flowers. The bees which can move within a perimeter of 4 km gather terrestrial and aerial flowers and, the more varied the flowers are, the more the honey will taste"
Pierre Etienne is inexhaustible on this subject, he has been immersed in honey for years, "for 20 years, but in beekeeping, there are always discoveries and you have to constantly question yourself. We are beekeepers, we protect bees, and if a hive doesn't evolve well, it's up to us to find out why."
The beekeeper makes his hives himself, based on the Picardy hive model, a model created by his friend and mentor, a beekeeper from Bertangles, which allows him to develop and make the most of the honey capacities in our region. The hive body is narrow, which limits the queen's egg-laying and allows the bees to make more provisions for the winter. To recognize Pierre Étienne's hives, you can't go wrong: they are painted white and grey.
Pierre Étienne produces spring honey and lime blossom honey. But one may ask the question: what else does he have in this honey? Just take a spoonful and taste it to understand: fresh and minty flavours will tease your taste buds!
What also makes its honey original is that it has implanted about forty hives on three exceptional sites: the first one in the courtyard of the farm of the castle of Breilly, and the two others in the park of the castle of Dury and Bertangles, hence the name "honey of the three castles"
